Ghee Bowman

I started my PhD at Exeter in 2016, having completed my MA (with distinction) here in 2015. My research (which is funded by the AHRC) is into Muslim Indian soldiers who were in Europe during the Second World War, and the way they have been forgotten and remembered since 1945.

I have done many things in my life, including working as a teacher of English, a stage manager in the theatre, and for charities in the UK and abroad. My most recent job, which brought me to the university, was working for the Global Centre in Exeter, where I co-ordinated a project on Exeter’s multi-cultural history:

I am married, and have two grown-up daughters. During my spare time I volunteer with the Woodcraft Folk, a co-operative organisation for children and young people.
