The AHRC DTP Open Event will take place on Wednesday 10 December 

University of Exeter AHRC DTP Open Event

On the 10 December 2014, the University of Exeter will be hosting an Open Event for postgraduate students who are thinking about studying for a research PhD. This Open Event will provide postgraduates with an opportunity to ask questions and listen to specialist guidance when considering applying for the AHRC South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership.

This Open Event will provide postgraduates with an opportunity to ask questions and listen to specialist guidance when considering applying for the AHRC South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership.This entirely optional event is intended to offer prospective PhD students the chance to find out more about the University of Exeter, following the DTP Information Day held on the 24 November. This Open Event will offer a further opportunity to find out (and ask questions) about the AHRC South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership. This Open Event will also offer further information on studying for a research degree at the University of Exeter, and offer expert advice in relation to identifying a supervisor, and preparing a research proposal.

In attendance at this session will be the Chair of the AHRC South, West and Wales DTP, Professor James Clark, the College of Humanities Associate Dean for Research, Professor Jane Spencer, and Exeter’s subject Directors of Postgraduate Research.

Jane Spencer, Professor of English at Exeter and Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Transfer said of the event: “We are delighted to welcome prospective PhD researchers to Exeter. This Open Event is a great way to find out more about the unique kind of doctoral training offered by the SWW AHRC DTP. Postgraduates within the DTP will be jointly supervised by leading research specialists across two universities within the SWW Consortium of Aberystwyth, Bath, Bath Spa, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Reading and Southampton, and will have opportunities to work with our partner organisations from the arts, heritage, media and government sectors.”

Professor Spencer added: “Here in Exeter we already supervise PhD research across all areas of humanities as part of the DTP, and we look forward to appointing to new studentships for 2015—16. This event will allow prospective students the chance to talk about their research ideas with subject experts, and to understand more of the rich resources we have here for PhD study.”
