Humanities subject success in The Guardian University Guide 2015

Four subjects from the College of Humanities have been ranked amongst the top five in the latest influential league table rankings, which were published on 3 June. They are History (4th), Theology and Religion (4th), Classics and Ancient History (5th) and Film Studies (5th). English remains firmly embedded in the top ten in 8th position.

Exeter’s overall position is 12th out of 116 UK higher education institutions in the 2015 Guide, maintaining last year’s position.

These latest classifications, coupled with its standing in the top one per cent in the Times Higher Education international ranking, reiterate Exeter’s position as a world-leading university.

University of Exeter Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Professor Sir Steve Smith said: “I am delighted by these superb results, which are a testament to the dedication, commitment and hard work displayed every day by students and staff across all our campuses.

The Guardian University Guide ranks universities according to a number of factors, including academic excellence and how happy students are with their courses, based on the National Student Survey.
