The Paddon Award 2014 - an arts competition for students, staff and alumni

The Paddon Award was established in memory of two alumni who contributed greatly to fostering collaboration between alumni and students for the benefit of the University. The annual prize is open to all current students and staff members of the University of Exeter as well as alumni who are not working in the professional arts sector.

The theme for entries for this year’s award is ‘A Sense of Place: taking inspiration from our surroundings – people and places, past, present and future’. Creative pieces can be entered in the form of film, prose, musical or visual arts. The first prize will be £250 and the opportunity to have a further one-to-one session with a panel judge of the winner’s choice at a later date.

The judging panel for the 2014 Award will be Graham Rawle - author, designer and creator of The Guardian newspapers’ ‘Lost Consonants’ feature; Emily Williams - a producer for Kaleider, an Associate Company of University of Exeter Arts and Culture, and promoter of theatre and other artistic events in Devon; and Kurt Jackson, one of the UK’s leading contemporary artists, based in Cornwall and an Honorary Graduate of the University of Exeter.

The deadline for entries is Monday 17 February 2014, with the winners being announced at the final judging event on Thursday 13 March. All entrants must be available to perform or display their entry at the final judging event.
