Humanities underlines leading position in Times league table

This year has seen the Times and Sunday Times amalgamate their league tables for the first time, with the University overall rising two places to 8th.

The good news extends through Humanities subjects, with Drama, English, French, Spanish, History and Theology and Religion all moving upwards in the table.

Drama is now first in the country rising from 4th last year, whilst Film has progressed from 3rd to 2nd (under the Communication and Media Studies category). Theology and Religion is up to 2nd in the UK after placing 4th in 2012 whilst French has also broken into the top 10 at 6th.

The Times and Sunday Times said: “Exeter was named The Sunday Times University of the Year in 2012. Applications have jumped 19% in the last year, intensifying competition for places. One of four institutions to join the Russell Group of leading research universities last year, it is becoming established in the top 10 in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide league table, thanks particularly to consistently high levels of student satisfaction, ranked 8th nationally and a good performance in the Research Assessment Exercise.”
