The Paddon Award - an arts competition

The University of Exeter is pleased to announce that entries are now open for the 2013 Paddon Award.

The Paddon Award was established in memory of two alumni who contributed greatly to fostering collaboration between alumni and students for the benefit of the University.  Both were very interested in the arts so an annual prize was set up to encourage participation in some aspect of the arts.

The theme for 2013 is ‘Sustainability: Imagining the Future’ and the Award is open to all University students, staff and alumni.  First prize is £250 cash and an opportunity to have a further one-to-one session at a later date with the judge of your choice.  The first judge confirmed so far is award winning composer of musicals for stage and screen, and University of Exeter alumnus, George Stiles (BA Music).  More judges are being confirmed as we speak.

Creative pieces can be entered in any of the following categories:

  • Film
  • Creative writing
  • Musical composition
  • Visual arts

The Paddon Award is open to all University of Exeter students, staff and alumni who are not working in the professional arts.

The final deadline for entries is Monday 18th February 2013, with the winners being announced at the final judging event on Monday 11th March.

For more information or to register your interest please email Katie Swan, Alumni Officer, on humanities-alumni@exeter.ac.uk.  You can also find the full competition details and rules on the College of Humanities events page
