Paul Jackson talk: The man behind the laughter

On May 9th, the University of Exeter is pleased to welcome Exeter alumnus and Honorary Graduate Paul Jackson. He will give a talk in LT1, Queen's Building, at 6.30 p.m. The talk is free of charge and will be of vital interest to any student who is considering a career in television. And for those of us who love television and watch copious amounts, he gives a fascinating insider's account.

Paul was Head of Entertainment at the BBC and brought us The Royle Family, The Office and Britain's Got Talent. He was Director of Comedy and Entertainment at ITV and put Harry Hill's TV Burp into the heart of ITV's Saturday nights.  Paul was also the founding Chairman of Comic Relief,  executive-produced Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen, and introduced Ant and Dec to prime-time television.  He bought The Young Ones, The Two Ronnies and the final series of Steptoe and Son to television screens across the country. Paul is currently CEO of the production company Eyeworks UK. You can find a full account of Paul's career on Wikipedia.

To RSVP, email humanities-alumni@exeter.ac.uk by Thursday 5th May.
