New website launch for Exeter City of Literature

Exeter was awarded UNESCO City of Literature status in 2019 following a successful collaborative bid from Exeter City Council, Exeter Culture, University of Exeter, Devon County Council, Libraries Unlimited, Literature Works, Exeter Cathedral and Exeter Canal and Quay Trust. The website www.exetercityofliterature.com has now been launched to act as a hub of information, as well as providing opportunities for ways the community can get involved through workshops and events.

There will be plenty on offer for literary enthusiasts and budding writers, starting with a collection of online events to support digital connectivity in the current climate. Upcoming events through August and September focus on the Quay Words programme, including an ‘in conversation’ session with digital writer-in-residence Tjawangwa Dema, a short writing course with Lily Dunn and opportunities for one-to-ones with both Tjawangwa and Colin Grant. Quay Words is also providing exciting opportunities for young writers, including the chance for 12 writers aged 14-18 to take part in developing their own Zine over the summer. Themed around nature, the writers will take part in workshops and learn how to develop a concept into a final written piece, with lots of encouragement and support along the way. Find out more here.
