Shadow puppets and animation on offer during family fun day at the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum

Children will have the chance to create their own shadow puppets and create animations at a free fun day at Exeter’s Bill Douglas Cinema Museum.

Five to 11-year-olds can take part in activities inspired by the museum’s incredible collection of film and moving image memorabilia, including making flick books and badges. The event is held as part of the museum’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum is home to one of the largest collections of material on the moving image in Britain - 75,000 items with 1,000 items on display. This includes Magic Lanterns, rare books and publicity materials such as posters. Admission is free and it is open every day.

Dr Phil Wickham, the museum’s curator, said: “We are very excited this year to celebrate our 20th anniversary with the community. This event will showcase our collection and the magic of the cinema.”

The event will be held on Tuesday 11 April.  Visitors can drop in any time between 10.30am and 3.30pm. The museum is based in the Old Library on the University of Exeter’s Streatham Campus.

There is no need to book in advance. For further information please contact bdc@exeter.ac.uk.
