Humanities Employability and Archaeology SSLC host Archaeology and Heritage Careers Fair 2017

On Friday 17th March, the Humanities Employability team and Archaeology Student Staff Liaison Committee welcomed students and guests to this year’s Archaeology and Heritage Careers Fair.

The Forum was transformed into a hub of local archaeological and heritage knowledge as the National Trust, English Heritage, the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, and many more organisations took over interactive touch-screen tables in Exploration Lab 2, displaying a huge variety of artefacts and resources.

Students from a range of disciplines also had the opportunity to listen to pop-up talks from speakers in the Forum. Guests including Devon County Archaeologist Bill Horner and Exeter Archaeology alumnus Andrew Morris, now Head of Cost Management at Nationwide Building Society, gave them an idea of the breadth of career paths open to Archaeology and other Humanities students when they graduate.

Dr Hajnalka Herold from the Archaeology Department said of the event: “We have had another successful year for the Archaeology and Heritage Careers Fair, and it was great to see so many of our students there. The Careers Fair has become a popular event in Archaeology, and it is also of interest for other Humanities students. The students really benefit from the event, as it puts them in touch with potential employers, and the organisations present at the Careers Fair value getting to know our students too.”
