Humanities students receive College Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence

Last week, first year undergraduate Assem Nugumanova met with Professor Andrew Thorpe, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of the College of Humanities, to receive the College Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence.

Assem, alongside fellow recipient Jane Neo, who also successfully progressed from INTO earlier this year, was recognised for her strong academic performance within the Humanities. INTO work in partnership with Higher Education institutions (including the University of Exeter), helping to equip international pre-application students with the skills they need to study at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level in the UK.

Having completed the International Foundation programme in Humanities, Law and the Social Sciences earlier this year, Assem recently began studying for her Combined Honours degree in History and International Relations, in conjunction with the College of Social Sciences and International Studies.

Professor Andrew Thorpe said: "I was delighted to meet Assem and congratulate her on her outstanding achievements in person. We hope that she will be followed by many other successful students."

Chloe Sharpe, Assistant Director (INTO Liaison) commented: “The College Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence recognises the outstanding academic achievement of INTO students who have progressed to the University of Exeter.”

She added: “We are very proud of all INTO students who have successfully progressed to the College of Humanities and congratulate Jane and Assem on being awarded College Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence. They both worked consistently hard to achieve high results and wish them every success in their undergraduate studies.”
