Miss Rachael Nicholas
Postdoctoral Research Assistant
Rachael Nicholas is Postdoctoral Research Associate on the AHRC-funded project The Pandemic and Beyond: The Arts and Humanities Contribution to Covid Research and Recovery. She was previously PDRA on the AHRC-funded Covid-19 project Digital Theatre Transformation: A Case Study and Digital Toolkit for Small to Mid-scale Theatres in England, also at the University of Exeter. Her research interests include digital theatre, audience research, Shakespeare in performance, cultural value, and the creative industries. Her PhD (University of Roehampton, 2019) investigated the ways that audiences engage with digitally-distributed Shakespeare performance in cinemas, schools and online.
Recent publications include the co-authored research report ‘Digital Theatre Transformation: A Case Study and Digital Toolkit’ and chapters in Shakespeare’s Audiences (2021), King Lear: Shakespeare on Screen (2019) and Shakespeare and the ‘Live’ Theatre Broadcast Experience (2018).
