Week in the Life of ...
BA Flexible Combined Honours (Theology and Arabic)
Blasphemy and Abrahamic Faiths lecture 10:30-12:30. Usually work and have lunch on campus. Arabic lecture 2:30 – 4:30 and usually go home for tea or to a coffee shop with my friends from Arabic. I always eat supper together with my housemates – we sometimes watch TV after.
I do the morning news bulletin for the Student Radio (Xpression FM). I am also a student ambassador and sometimes go into schools to deliver presentations on Higher Education. No lectures today!
No lectures today as well – I usually come to campus to work (if I have deadlines!). Or will meet friends in town. I’m also on the SSLC so might have work to do for that. Wednesday is my night to cook for my housemates! So will spend some time shopping for food for the 6 of us.
Lots of lectures – 12:30 – 2:30 Arabic, 3:30 – 4:30 Blasphemy Seminar, 4:30 – 5:30 Arabic again … I often have an exam at 12:30 for Arabic so usually spend the morning revising. In the evening there are sometimes socials for one of the societies I’m in – like Arabic and Middle Eastern Society or Theology Society.
Longest lecture of the week! 9:30 – 12:30 module about theology in art (Theology, Art and Politics). Might have another student ambassador job, or a meeting with my lecturer.
Every Saturday is different! A free day to do what I want – sometimes friends / family from home visit or I’ll work in the John Lewis Café with my housemate, or take a trip to Dartmoor or the beach (weather dependent!). Saturday evening is always board game night in our house – sometimes we have 10 or 15 people over!
Sunday morning is usually really chilled. I go to church in the afternoon for a couple of hours and afterwards play intermural netball with my friends at the sports park … In the evening we watch Poldark using a projector my housemate has!
