Introducing Paul (THE2069)

15 credits

It is argued that the Apostle Paul is one of the most significant and influential figures in the origins of Christianity.  His writings dominate much of the New Testament. This module will introduce you to the figure of Paul and his writings, setting them in the context of the development of earliest Christianity. You will explore Paul’s influence over the growth of Christianity by focussing on some of the key themes and ideas in Paul’s letters, such as the inclusion of Gentile converts, Paul’s view on Jewish law and Christian community.  You will also learn about perspectives on the subject in recent scholarship.
