Public engagement

My academic interests on studying the ideological origin of social movements also bring me closer to the realm of contemporary social struggles and international conflicts. East Asia and Middle East are the two major geographic areas in which I am interested. I lived in Middle East between 2011 and 2014. In the heat of Arab political upheaval, I began to write about Sino-Middle Eastern relations and the wider impact of Arab turmoil on the global post-Cold War political order for Chinese media and state think tanks. I am a political advisor on Sino-Middle Eastern relations and regularly appear on national TV programmes. I am also a columnist for Boao Review, a journal published by Boao Forum for Asia, a platform for dialogs among leaders of national governments, industrial and business circles, and academic circles of countries in Asia.
