Encounters and Entanglements: Chinese Art in Global Perspective (MLM2011)

This module is an introduction to Chinese art history from an interdisciplinary (e.g. artistic, philosophical and political) and global perspective, navigating through diverse Chinese artefacts such as gardens, paintings, architecture, and other art forms. You will learn about the significance of these artefacts in both personal and social contexts as well as the fascinating stories of how they encountered and engaged with the outside world. You will not only become familiar with the art history of China, but you will also develop knowledge of the history of interactions between China and the world. No pre-requisite modules are required.
