The College of Humanities is 65th in the THE World University rankings this year

The College of Humanities maintains its strong position in THE World University rankings

Following the success of last year’s results, the College of Humanities has improved on its overall score this year and maintained its strong global position of 65th in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

These rankings assess academic institutions according to five particular fields; teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook. Within these five criteria, research is a key performance indicator, capturing the institution’s research output, income, reputation and influence. This year’s results show a marked upward trend for the College, particularly in regard to international outlook and citations respectively. The College has seen an increase in the international outlook score of 7.1% from last year, rising from 62.5 to 69.6%, reflecting the truly global nature of all its disciplines.

The Dean of the College of Humanities Professor Andrew Thorpe commented: “We’re encouraged to see that the College of Humanities has sustained its strong position in the THE World University ranking this year. These rankings provide an important indicator for research performance and teaching excellence. The College has once again been recognised as a key player on the international stage. We now need to assess how best to push forward into the World Top 50.”
