Studying at the Cornwall Campus
Unique student experience
- Specialism in the ‘modern’ period, from 1500 onwards
- Small, friendly and relaxed atmosphere in the department and on campus
- Stunning main buildings are equipped to deliver the very best in learning and teaching facilities
We may be about History, but History at the Cornwall Campus certainly isn’t stuck in the past. We are the newest history department – the only one created in the past 40-50 years. We do not have entrenched traditions and practices and our students have played a large part in designing the syllabus, monitoring how it is delivered and having a say in the planning of the future growth of the campus.
Satisfied students
- 97 per cent of History Single Honours students at the Cornwall Campus agreed they were ‘Overall Satisfied’ with the quality their programme (National Student Survey, 2011)
- 96 per cent of History Single Honours students at the Cornwall Campus agreed with positive statements about the quality of teaching on their programme (National Student Survey, 2011)
The National Students’ Survey shows just how satisfied students in History at the Cornwall Campus are. Our students rated the quality of teaching and their personal development particularly highly. We regard this as unequivocal evidence of the excellence of the teaching provided by the Cornwall Historians.
I have loved studying History; it has given me a unique university experience filled with lecture-student contact, a surprisingly diverse module choice for a small department, experience working in a museum, and ultimately a lot of close friends. I have also had the opportunity to study abroad in Melbourne, Australia. This gave me the experience of going to university in a city, the complete opposite to life in Falmouth, as well as a chance to travel around Australia while studying. I was also involved in the History Society and their trips to Prague and Paris which added to my historical knowledge and cemented many friendships across the year groups.
