My research, teaching and other academic activities demonstrate my strong commitment to uncovering the differences, similarities and profound inter-connections between the territories of America, Europe and Africa, and to understanding the United States within the wider context of Europe, and the world.    My achievements include research in: American Popular music and its influence on Interwar Britain: Mass Society, Culture and Identity, Gender in High Noon, Jazz in Ireland during the Interwar Years, Passing the Plate: Personal Appearances of Dr King and the Donations Flows to SCLC, the intermingling of class, economy and jazz as well as a continuing interest in cultural studies and race relations.
