MA History

With specialist pathways:

Allows you to focus on a particular period or geographical area, or to study a specific theme such as economic and social history, international history, religious and cultural history, political history, naval and maritime, or gender history, as part of a specialist pathway or from our full range of modules by taking the open pathway. The programme produces graduates who are highly competent in subject-specific, core academic, and personal and key skills that are both relevant and transferable to employment.  It also provides excellent preparation for students intending to continue on to doctoral-level research humanities-pgadmissions@exeter.ac.uk
MA Medieval Studies  This interdisciplinary programme will provide you with an opportunity to deepen your knowledge and understanding of medieval society and culture. Staff expertise, drawn from across the University, covers a wide range of disciplines and specialisms: archaeology, history, Islamic studies, law, music, theology, visual and material culture, and the literatures of England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain from the Dark Ages to the Renaissance.
You will benefit from contact with leading scholars in the field, whilst receiving the training suitable to progress to PhD study

MA Western Esotericism Explore the Western esoteric tradition from late Antiquity through the Renaissance and Early Modern period to the present.  Understand its influence on religion and science, culture and literature, politics and society - any why it's still an inspiration to thinkers today humanities-pgadmissions@exeter.ac.uk
MRes Economic and Social History                                           Provides essential training for PhD study.  Focus on methods and analysis in economic and social history.  Choose an option module from our wide selection which cover Anglo-Saxon England through to the modern Western and Eastern Europe; some parts of Asia; North and South America; and Africa.  The programme also forms part of the ESRC South West Doctoral Training Centre - a hub of world-class social sciences research humanities-pgadmissions@exeter.ac.uk
