Thatcher and Thatcherism (HIC3306)

30 credits

In this module we examine Britain in the 1980s, under the political leadership of Margaret Thatcher and the Conservative Party. We will be concerned with the very Thatcherite notion that Thatcherism was a new and different way of looking at the world, which was rooted in powerful theoretical positions: neo-liberalism and neo-conservatism. Fundamentally, we are also exploring whether the historian can make sense of such recent events.
