Art History and Visual Culture Dissertation (AHV3000)
The dissertation is an independent research project which enables you to work on a piece of Independent study that is self-selected, rather than prescribed; it enables you to develop and expand a research interest in a subject related to your Art History and Visual Culture studies. It highlights your ability to work autonomously, identifying a topic, articulating the relevant issue(s) for further analysis and devising a plan of work that is largely self-managed. The skills you have learnt over the course of your degree programme are a very good preparation for this, and the dissertation is an opportunity to research and write a substantial piece of work on a subject that you will become expert on and will also be able to discuss in relation to your future work and study aims. You will receive guidance from a supervisor and receive support through a series of workshops and presentations.
