Film Studies at Exeter is based in one of the top rated English departments for research, teaching and student experience in the UK. The dedicated Film Studies team have a wide range of expertise across American, East Asian, European, and other World cinemas, and receive excellent student feedback for their teaching.
We have a thriving community of postgraduate students who are either studying on one of our taught MA programmes or undertaking their own research on MPhil or PhD projects. Postgraduate students actively participate in the vibrant Film Studies research culture, through their involvement in the Centre for Research in Film Studies. The Centre holds fortnightly research seminars with papers presented by academic staff, visiting speakers and postgraduate students.
Postgraduates have access to outstanding research resources, including the extensive holdings of The Bill Douglas Centre, the largest library on the moving image in any British University.
