The Centre is represented upon a range of public bodies in English Studies and higher education in general, both nationally and internationally. Members have served as:

  • President of the British Association of Victorian Studies (2009-2012)
  • Treasurer of British Association of Victorian Studies (2006-12)
  • The Advisory Board of the English Subject Centre
  • The AHRC Research Panel
  • Late-19th- and Early-20th-Century Division of the MLA (North America)
  • Member of Specialist Panel for the Dorset Natural History and Archaeological Society
  • Public Engagement Officer for the Council for College and University English (CCUE)

The Centre is well represented on the editorial boards of many scholarly journals. These include:

Professor Regenia Gagnier was invited by the Queen to celebrations of the Dickens bicentenary at Buckingham Palace, in recognition of her services to Dickens 2012 and pioneering research on Global Dickens.

Professor Angelique Richardson is Associate Editor-in-Chief for the Forum for World Literature Studies.
