Programme structure
Students follow two modules in American and Transatlantic Studies. You can then take a further option from within this specialism, or complement your studies with an option chosen from the full range in English at Exeter, tailoring your programme to suit your own interests. Our MA is particularly compatible with Film Studies. Options available vary each year but may include:
- The Transatlantic Century
- Cultures of American Modernism
- Transatlantic Perspective on the Literature and Culture of the American South
- The American Child
- Contemporary Confessional Cultures
- Movie Mavericks: Creativity, Crisis and Change in 1970s Hollywood
- Silent Screens, Hearing Film: Sound and Music
- Sex and Death in the City? Questions of Film Noir
These English modules were available to taught postgraduate students during the current and previous academic years. While they are representative of the choices which will be available to you during your degree, you should note that modules may change depending on the research interests of staff.
