Shakespeare and Renaissance Comedy (EAS2024)

In this module you will study Shakespearean comedy in the context of Renaissance comedy in general.

You will examine dramas of love, marriage and carnival through the evolution of comedy, the development of Renaissance public and private theatres, and the theatrical conventions that evolved in these theatres.

You will gain an understanding of the pressing social issues of the day, including issues of family, sexuality, gender, money, class and power.
