Trans-National Cinemas (EAF1505)

30 credits

This module explores key concepts relating to cinema and the nation. You will consider how the idea of national cinema has been re-appraised in film studies during the past two decades in relation to concepts such as ‘transnational cinemas’, ‘world cinemas’ and ‘accented cinema’. Using a range of case studies from World cinema, you will analyse how issues of the transnational relate to questions of border-crossing, diasporas and cross-cultural exchange in production, exhibition and distribution.
