Dissertation (DRA3007)
30 credits
The Dissertation module is a chance to get your teeth into a subject you are interested in and haven't had time to look at on the course properly yet. If you are thinking of going onto further study after the degree, or want to work in a career where you might be needed to do research or fieldwork – community-related or charity institutions, the media, publishing/journalism, government/civil service, even theatre itself! – then a dissertation on your CV can look very impressive. The content of a dissertation might also allow you to do some networking/ interviewing/ fieldwork that could be related to your future career path. Finally, it is also possible to choose an area of technical specialization as you topic, which could be any aspect of technology in the world of entertainment, subject to feasibility of your project. You should bear in mind that you will need a research question to answer or a defined aim.
Working one-to-one with a tutor, you will identify an area of interest, find a research question and plan your project and writing.
We'll start thinking about your topic before the end of term, so that you can begin collecting material over the summer vacation, and hit the ground running in October.
