Bronze Age Britain in its European Context (ARC2114)

This module will build on what you learned in the prerequisite module ARC1002A: Discovering Prehistory. You will be introduced to the archaeology of Britain and Ireland in the period 2000-700BC, and set it in the context of contemporary developments on the Continent. You will look at the monuments, artefacts and sites of the period allowing you to acquire familiarity with both the materials and the techniques used in Bronze Age research. You will focus on current approaches and think about major recent discoveries discovered by recent research. You will examine the main themes of Bronze Age research, both in Britain and on the European continent, considering trade and exchange, social development, hoarding, agriculture, and technology.
